Our in-home, baby-led newborn sessions allow you to enjoy the experience of having your baby’s first photography session in comfortable and familiar surroundings.
*We may charge a small fee to cover travel expenses outside our catchment area, but this is usually only around €25 max., please check with us on enquiry. We mainly cover the Cavan, Monaghan, Meath, Louth and Kildare regions, however we also regularly travel to other counties for home studio and newborn photography sessions so don’t hesitate to enquire!
**We want to provide you with as many photos as we can. Unfortunately, not every little one is happy for us to take their photos so we cannot guarantee a set number of photos on your disc. We may often need to take 200 photos in order to make sure that nobody is blinking etc. when they ought not to be. In your gallery, you will most likely have a minimum of 10 images, we aim to give you 10-20 photos. Most of your images will be in both colour and black & white, however some (such as baby in hands pose) are done solely in black & white.
Ideally, a newborn shoot is done within the first 7-10 days after the birth, so to ensure availability, please try to organise this as soon as you and your little one are ready. This is when your little one is most malleable and sleepy. As they get past this age, it becomes more difficult for us to achieve the poses that you might want with your baby and they also often start to develop noticeable baby acne and flaky skin.
Generally shoots only take around 3-4 hours, however sometimes your little one may not settle for some time and we’ll hang around a little longer until he or she is calm, comfortable and ready. We are not in any hurry!
If you would like any other family or children’s portraits done on the same day, this is not a problem but we do need to know in advance and have a little space to be able to set up our mobile studio if you would like them with a backdrop.
When Should I Book?
Most of our clients book their newborn session around the start of their third trimester, some earlier, some a little later. We do sometimes have spaces available on-the-spot, however, this is rare, so please consider making a provisional booking by contacting us with your due date while you are in your third trimester at the latest so that we will definitely have a space available for you in our busy calendar.
