Aoibheann’s Pink Tie
Blog & Tutorials
We’re both avid fans of The History Channel’s show – Vikings. Needless to say, when ‘The Big Viking Picnic’ was announced we instantly bought our tickets. €20 each for the day and the opportunity to meet one of the main characters – Ragnar Lothbrook (Travis Fimmel), yes please. Unfortunately we weren’t able to stay on long enough to wait, but Travis and his on-screen son, Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) did make an appearance and delighted the fans. We hear they were gentlemen and rascals all at once!
Most importantly, the day was organised as a fund raiser for Aoibheann’s Pink Tie and has so far, aside from the auctioning off of donated items, raised €20,000. What Aoibheann’s Pink Tie does is provide a practical, emotional and financial fall back to those families in need of it.
The support offered varies from case to case, examples include:
· A friendly, understanding shoulder for the family to lean on
· Respite days for families – hotel overnight, tickets for a show etc
· Quality of life treatment related items such as Memory mattresses
· Toys for all of the children in the family
· Arranging contact / visits from celebrities
· Limited emergency financial assistance for household items
You can show your support by buying prints of any of the Vikings images on our Facebook Page (these cost €25, with €10 from each sale going to Aoibheann’s Pink Tie), by going to their website and donating to them directly or TEXT Aoibheann to 50300 to donate €2.
In the mean time, here are some composites made using some of the images that we took on the day – Click the images to view a larger version:
